Isaiah 58

Call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable,...Is this not the fast that I have chosen:

To loose the bonds of wickedness,

To undo the heavy burdens,

To let the oppressed go free,

And that you break every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,

And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him,...

Then your light shall break forth like the morning.

    Isaiah 58:13,6-8

Our Hopes

  • Primarily, we long just to obey the simplest directives of the Christian gospel: feed, clothe, and love those in need.

  • We're hoping to focus, first, on refugee women and their children. To that end, we want to purchase a properly-zoned home or apartment building in Moscow, Idaho to provide immediate housing.

  • We're also praying to have a large amount of money on hand to cover food, housing, clothing, travel, healthcare, and any immediate needs for an extended period of time.

  • As this ministry expands, we hope to provide many volunteer and serving opportunities for members of local congregations. Our own people can't mature properly without growing in service to those in need.

  • In the long term, we're praying that Sabbath House expands to include multiple buildings and services to aid as many people as the Lord allows. We'll start small over the next few years and build as the Lord supplies.

  • Within these services, we hope to include long-term trauma counseling, legal help, language instruction, and broader education for children.

  • In the longer term, we hope to provide humane and cooperative work opportunities for the people we serve. Some of these brothers and sisters will have come from horrendous work environments and sweatshops in the third world. Once they have their immediate needs cared for, we hope to provide funding and direction for several creative business cooperatives within the area (woodworking, garment design, agriculture, healthcare), where they can lead others and improve their situations in a community of support and love and dignity.

G.K. Chesterton Observation

"There is nothing to be reached upon the present lines except the increasing loss of property by everybody, as something swallowed up into a system equally impersonal and inhuman, whether we call it Communism or Capitalism. If we cannot go back, it hardly seems worthwhile to go forward. There is nothing in front but a flat wilderness of standardization either by Bolshevism or Big Business."
